Frequently Asked Questions

What are the different types of BSP threads?

Our 316 stainless steel threaded fittings are manufactured to ISO4144 where threads must conform to ISO 7-1.

External threaded fittings such as nipples, bushes, hosetails and unions are BSPT/Tapered where the diameter narrows towards the tip.

Internal threaded fittings such as sockets, tees, elbows, caps and unions are BSPP/Parallel where the thread depth and diameter are uniform.

This specific configuration allows the tapered male thread to wedge into the female parallel thread, creating a secure, permanent joint when wrapped in PTFE tape.

What stainless steel threaded fittings do you stock?

Our range includes elbows, tees, crosses, nipples, sockets, unions, reducing bushes, plugs, caps and bends, covering common pipework connection, branching, reduction, directional change and termination requirements.

Should I choose pressfit or threaded fittings?

This depends on your specific needs. Threaded fittings for instance, offer established, removable connections and suit many existing pipework systems. A press-fit system can simplify and accelerate installation, but lack reusability. A press-fit install requires compatible tube, press fittings and M-profile pressing equipment.
